Capabilities Detailed Review
Since July of 2018 Drip has implemented a new visual builder. It's fun and easy to use. Drip has so many features when it comes to setting up automations that you need some time to get acquainted with it.
Convertkit is easy to work with. That being said, customization options are very limited.
Not good in terms of email templates. They don't have a good library of pre-made templates. But with the new visual builder you should be able to create some good ones yourself.
With ConvertKit you have a very limited selection of templates, unless you HTML-code templates yourself.
Although design options are limited, there are plenty of different form types. What's cool, is thay you can customize the visibility and the behavior associated.
With ConvertKit you have different options choosing form types. You can also create landings pages. You are limited in creating custom designs.
"Drip’s automations are centered around user-friendliness and smoothness. It works with ‘rules’ and ‘workflows’, which make setting up simple automations easy. They've also recently introduced ""sharable workflow"" which are basically pre-built automations you can import into your account with 1 click. This saves you a lot of time
"ConvertKit is very user-friendly. Automations can be set up very easiliy with their ‘automations manager’. They work with a ‘trigger’ and ‘action’ system, which is very easy to use. With their visual automations builder you can also easily create multiple automations with their own rules, simply and fastly. The number of triggers you can select are limited, though.
Drip's A/B-testing functionality quite basic compared to tools like ActiveCampaign. For example: It's hard to A/b test content inside of emails.
It has basic A/B-testing. To get more detailed results is a bit of a complex process.
6 - List management & segmentation
Nothing bad can be said about Drip's segmentation options. Drip is without a doubt the best tool when it comes to segmentation. They go a step further than tags with their "events" feature. It's like tags, but with more contextual information (like time the tag was applied, the price associated with it, etc). This is tags on steroids basically.
One of the outstanding features of Convertkit is their segmentation based on tags. You can get really targeted with who you want to send emails and automations to.
Drip integrates with most apps (also with Zapier integrations). And because they are part of Leadpages, we believe there will be many deep integrations with popular marketing software coming in the very near future because leadpages is working on Center (a marketing integration tool)
ConvertKit integrates with most apps (also with Zapier integrations).
Best tool when it comes to tracking and reporting. It offers the biggest offering of data and visually it is very nicely illustrated.
ConvertKit does it's basic job. There's not much more to say about it.
Live chat is available during limited hours and they respond really fast with great answers.
ConvertKit replies really quickly and makes sure you are helped out in the end. Live chat is quick and responsive as well.
Pretty easy to set up and start using. Especially the automation part because of their "sharable workflows" which are pre-built automations you can import into your account.
Of all the programs, this one is easiest to use.
Price is the worst feature of this software. They have recently retired their free forever plan and increased their relatively high prices even further. They've got some great features, but we have to score the pricing like this when we compare to other tools.
Although good software, a bit too expensive if you have a large list of subscribers.

Native Landingpage builder
Drip has some awesome features when it comes to marketing automation, like their segmentation and targeting features. Also, their workflow builder and "shared workflows" are really nice because you can build AND import pre-built automations right into your account. However, it is a really expensive tool compared to other tools like ActiveCampaign (who have the same if not better automation features). In short, our advice is: If you are in eCommerce, go for Drip or Klaviyo (better price). If you need amazing targeting, also consider Drip. But if you are in B2B or want great value for money, consider a tool like ActiveCampaign.
Convertkit is easy to use, and perfect for those who just got started, or just need their basic automation needs covered. For more advanced marketers, we would not recommend this tool, because it is a bit limited in terms of features. For instance, the selection of templates. This tool is great for bloggers, though. The user interface can be a bit confusing at times. It does contain some nice list management options. Also, this tool is great for bloggers! And it is a plus you can create landing pages with this tool.
